It sounds like he is playing some combo of two notes together in the intro. and then BAMMM!! it hit me... strings are tuned down 1/2 step except for the top E string (thin one), stays tuned as the E note. The E note is played at the same time. You can also leave tuning in standard 440 and tune the top E as an F (1/2 step up) note then song is played in C minor instead of B minor. You can also use a capo on the first fret to raise top E to F and play open or bar chords.
